Runcorn Linnets

Local football club Runcorn Linnets FC is kicking off 2023 by striking a new sponsorship deal with merseyflow to extend its advertising sponsorship of the club for an extra two years.

The renewed deal is part of merseyflow’s wider community support programme which includes supporting many local junior sports clubs in Halton along with continued support for merseyflow’s adopted charity; Halton Haven Hospice.

The sponsorship income will be vital for Runcorn Linnets, which has over 40 different teams.

It is home to around 500 girls, boys and adults playing at just about every age group and standard – from the 3-5yr old boys and girls playing for its ‘Akidamy’ – right up to its men’s first team, which plays at a semi-professional level in the Northern Premier League.

It is one of the first ‘supporter-owned’ football clubs to be set up anywhere in England. It was created 15 years ago, is 100% owned and run by fans and volunteers, and is one of Runcorn’s most active community sports clubs.

All the teams, along with its educational academy, are based at the APEC Taxis Stadium in Runcorn.

Merseyflow is also taking out several match ball sponsorship packages to help support the club further.

Neil Conway, Chief Executive of merseyflow, said: “We’re proud to sponsor our local community in Halton and the Linnets plays an important role in that. It has over 500 people using the facilities every week and relies on funding from businesses and individuals to keep the club running. We wanted to show our ongoing support for the work they do, so we’re delighted to be signing up for an extra two seasons of sponsorship.”

Peter Cartledge, Chairman of Runcorn Linnets, said: “We’d like to say a huge thanks to merseyflow for extending its sponsorship deal. Every penny that they donate, along with the income from our other sponsors, is being used to keep the club running.”

He added: “After losing some of our usual funding sources during the pandemic and the recent cost of living increases, we’re relying on sponsorships like merseyflow’s to keep the club open for all the people in Halton who use our facilities.”
