Fundraisers to abseil down 150ft Cathedral for local charity

A team of 20 brave charity fundraisers from merseyflow will be reaching new heights this July as they abseil down one of Liverpool’s most iconic buildings.

The team will be descending 150ft and free hanging from above the great West Door of the Liverpool Cathedral, all to raise money for merseyflow’s adopted local charity, Halton Haven Hospice.

The charity provides specialist care, completely free of charge, to people of Halton and surrounding areas who are living with end-of-life or life-limiting conditions.

The team from merseyflow has caught the imagination of colleagues and customers who are backing them to reach a fundraising target of £5,000.

This includes a donation of £4,000 from merseyflow’s parent company, international free-flow tolling specialist emovis.

You can sponsor the fundraising charity team by sponsoring them at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/merseyflowhaltonhaven.

Helen Williams, Marketing Manager from merseyflow, said: “We are equally thrilled and terrified to be getting the chance to abseil down such an iconic Liverpool landmark. The nerves are starting to kick in for some of us, but we are raising money for such a deserving charity. The money that we raise will help Halton Haven Hospice to provide care for those in need in Halton and surrounding areas.

“We are hoping to reach our target of £5,000 before the event on the 22nd July so all donations are welcome and if you happen to be passing by the cathedral on the day, give us a cheer of support.”

Viv Culleton, Chief Executive Officer of Halton Haven Hospice, said: “Donations are vital for us to keep running. At the moment we need to raise more than £1.2 million to meet our annual running costs, so to have the team at merseyflow taking on this hair-raising challenge to raise money for our charity is fantastic. We wish them the best of luck.”
