Merseyflow fundraisers conquer Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) for charity

Adventurous charity fundraisers from merseyflow have taken part in a challenging ten-mile trek up Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) to raise £7,000 for a good cause.

On Sunday 4th August the dedicated team of 23 started their Snowdon Sunrise Charity Challenge ascent from Llanberis at 2am, reaching the summit at 5.30am, all to raise money for merseyflow’s adopted charity, Halton Haven Hospice.

The hospice provides free specialist care to people of Halton and the surrounding areas who are living with end-of-life or life-limiting conditions, and their families.

The merseyflow team caught the imagination of colleagues and customers and raised £7,000. The total raised includes £500 generously donated from Merseylink consortium.

Helen Williams, Marketing Manager at merseyflow, was part of the team tackling the highest mountain in Wales. Helen said: “The trek up Snowdon was gruelling for some but it was worth it knowing we were raising a lot of money to help Halton Haven Hospice provide support to patients and their families.

“We’d like to thank everyone who has supported us and donated to this amazing cause, helping us to smash our fundraising target.”

The hospice needs to raise over £2.6 million annually to cover its operating costs, with only half of this amount funded by statutory sources. Rising living costs further strain its resources, making donations essential for its continued service.

Tina Gill, Fundraising Manager at Halton Haven Hospice said: “Donations are vital for us to keep running. At the moment, we need to raise more than £2.6 million a year to meet our annual running costs. So to have the merseyflow team take on this enormous challenge to raise money for our charity is fantastic. We’re very grateful for their support.”
