A hospice and two schools are among the community organisations in Halton benefitting from the 2025 Mersey Gateway Time Bank initiative.
Halton Haven Hospice, Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy and Hallwood Park Primary School were selected from the organisations that applied for support from the Mersey Gateway Time Bank initiative.
Time Bank is a way for Merseylink and merseyflow to demonstrate their commitment to the local area and provide help and support to various charities and community groups in Halton.
The scheme offers a commitment of time, expertise and resources from Merseylink and merseyflow staff. Applicants benefit from ‘deposits’ of time and resources, which can then be used to provide long-lasting benefits to community life in Halton.
Halton Haven Hospice is one of the organisations that has benefited from the 2025 Mersey Gateway Time Bank initiative. It has received the support of volunteers from the HR team at merseyflow and a team from the Mersey Gateway Crossings Board to give its Peace Garden a well-deserved clean up and weeding.
They also received support from Merseylink’s O&M Contractor, Tarmac, who volunteered a total of 36 hours to help clear moss and vegetation from the Woodlands Walk and Peace Garden.
Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy and Hallwood Park Primary School also received help from the team at Tarmac with tidying and maintenance of outdoor areas and removing an uneven footpath and fences to improve safety.
Tina Robinson, Fundraising Manager at Halton Haven Hospice, said: “We’re incredibly grateful for all of the project volunteers who have given up their time to help give our Peace Memorial Garden and Woodlands Walk some ‘much-needed TLC’. We would like to thank the merseyflow, Mersey Gateway Crossings Board and Tarmac teams for all they have done for us through the Time Bank initiative.”
Karen Atherton, Merseylink Network Steward and Time Bank Lead, said: “Time Bank is designed to provide long-term benefits to people and communities in Halton, and we are delighted to be supporting Halton Haven Hospice, Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy and Hallwood Park Primary School this year. We look forward to welcoming even more projects on board in the new year.”
Helen Williams, Marketing Manager at merseyflow, said: “Working together with Merseylink on the Time Bank initiative has been a very rewarding experience for our HR team. Getting involved in community challenges has brought the team together, and helping Halton Haven Hospice was a great opportunity to support those in need in the area.”
Time Bank has already gifted over 20,000 hours of support locally across a variety of projects in Runcorn and Widnes since 2014.
