A local rugby union club at the heart of the community in Widnes is benefitting from a sponsorship deal with merseyflow.
Extending its sponsorship of the ‘Wids’ – Widnes Rugby Union Club – for a further twelve months is a boost for the club ahead of the new 2025/26 season.
For a seventh year, the funding will help contribute towards the day-to-day running of the club, which relies on self-generated income to provide access to sports for players of all levels in Halton.
Neil Conway, Chief Executive of merseyflow, said: “We’re pleased to offer our support to clubs in Widnes and Runcorn, like the Wids, that play such an important role in the health and wellbeing of the local community. We’re looking forward to the upcoming season and wish them the best of luck.”
In response, Widnes RUFC Club President Derek Dyer said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to merseyflow for extending its sponsorship deal. Every penny that they donate, along with the income of our other sponsors, is being used to keep the club running.
“As a Community Rugby Club, we rely very much on the support and generosity of local businesses, and we are absolutely thrilled to have them on board once again.
