COVID-19 update: merseyflow walk-in centre set to re-open

Consistent with the latest Government advice, merseyflow is planning to re-open its walk-in centre with social distancing measures in place from 9am on Monday 15 June 2020.

Merseyflow anticipate that customers are likely to experience longer waiting times when visiting the walk-in centre due to social distancing and hygiene measures, which will ensure that staff and customers are 2m apart where possible. This will cut its operating capacity to 50%.

Visitors will also be encouraged to wear suitable face masks and gloves.

Merseyflow continue to encourage all customers to use its website for registering or renewing passes and paying charges.

Other safety measures will include staff members wearing PPE where appropriate, a staff member at the door to limit the number of customers allowed inside the walk-in centre at the same time and the installation of wall hand sanitisers.

Customers whose Halton Resident or Blue Badge Plans were due to renew during the last two months had their plans automatically extended during the height of the lockdown. Merseyflow have now contacted all these customers directly, encouraging them to renew their plans online and asking them to do so by 1July.

Neil Conway, Chief Executive of merseyflow, said: “We would like to ask our customers to only visit the walk-in centre if absolutely necessary. If you are paying for a journey you can use the merseyflow quick pay app or www.merseyflow.co.uk which are operating 24/7 as always. If you are paying a PCN, registering for an account or renewing a plan it is very straight forward to also do this on our website.

“We know that our walk-in-centre is popular with some customers who struggle with digital technology. However, I would encourage anyone who is in the vulnerable category or has been shielding to use the merseyflow website or call us on 01928 878 878 rather than visit, and we will do our best to resolve any issues without you having to make a trip in person.”

The walk-in centre will be operating on the same reduced hours as merseyflow’s call centre, as follows: Monday to Saturday 9am-5.30pm and Sunday 10am-4pm.

The merseyflow team will continue to closely monitor Government guidance, in respect of any decisions made regarding Covid-19, and future actions will be made in line with government direction and guidance.

The walk-in centre is re-opening on Monday as it was seen as best aligned to non-essential retail, which the Government has approved to re-open from 15 June.
