Customers urged to renew merseyflow discount plans ahead of extended renewal deadline

Merseyflow discount plan holders whose plans were about to expire before the Covid-19 pandemic are now urged to renew before the final deadline of 1st September 2020.

In March Merseyflow automatically extended renewal deadlines for Halton Resident and Blue Badge holder discounted plans whose plans were due to expire during lockdown. This meant customers with one of these plans could continue using it without needing to renew.

When the national lockdown ended in June, merseyflow directly contacted all customers who had their plans extended. There have now been several reminders sent to customers, including by email and text message, advising of the approaching deadline and providing instructions for renewing.

The vast majority of customers who had their plans extended have already renewed and merseyflow has extended the renewal grace period by two months to 1st September.

Merseyflow is contacting the small number remaining to remind them that if they don’t take action to renew, they will need to pay for each crossing they make from September onwards.

How to renew your discount plan

The quickest and simplest way to renew is to go online to the merseyflow website.

Halton residents can follow merseyflow’s simple five-step renewal guide:

  • Step 1 – scan or take photographs of your valid driving licence, current council tax bill and V5C vehicle registration certificate ready to upload
  • Step 2 – log into your merseyflow account at www.merseyflow.co.uk and click ‘renew my plan’
  • Step 3 – pay your £10 annual fee
  • Step 4 – upload your documents
  • Step 5 – you will receive an email confirming your payment has been received

Blue Badge holders need to follow a similar process and upload photos or copies of both sides of their Blue Badge. Customers with Blue Badge plans are also encouraged to contact the merseyflow team for a further extension if they are waiting for a local authority to process their Blue Badge applications.

Neil Conway, Chief Executive of merseyflow, said: "We’re now urging all of our customers who had their discounted plans automatically extended to renew as soon as possible. This is not only to continue benefiting from your fantastic discount on Mersey Gateway bridge crossings, but to ensure that you do not get issued with a PCN after crossing the bridge with an expired plan and have your merseyflow account closed entirely.”

Halton residents must renew their plan every 12 months to ensure their details are correct and they continue to qualify for their discount scheme. Blue Badge holders have to renew their plans if they change their vehicle.
