Halton residents urged to act now to renew merseyflow discount plans

Halton residents who have not renewed their annual merseyflow plans are being urged to act now before they expire.

All eligible Halton residents will need an active Local User Discount Scheme plan in place to continue to benefit from their heavily discounted crossings on the Mersey Gateway and Silver Jubilee bridges.

Renewals peaked in October with the fourth anniversary of the Mersey Gateway opening, with around 14,000 plans expiring at the same time.

While most eligible Halton residents have renewed, there are still a number who need to take action before the expiry date.

Customers who don’t renew risk losing their discounted rate and may receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) for any unpaid crossings.

The quickest and easiest ways to renew are by using the merseyflow website, or calling the customer service team on 01928 878878. The merseyflow Walk-In Centre, in Howard Court, Runcorn, WA7 1SJ is also available for those without internet access.

Anyone whose Local User Discount Scheme plan is due to expire can renew by following merseyflow’s simple five-step guide.

  • Step 1 – scan or take photographs of your valid driving licence, current council tax bill and V5C vehicle registration certificate ready to upload
  • Step 2 – log into your merseyflow account at www.merseyflow.co.uk and click ‘renew my plan’
  • Step 3 – upload your documents
  • Step 4 – pay your £10 annual fee
  • Step 5 – you will receive an email confirming your payment has been received. Merseyflow will then be in touch within five days to confirm the documents are valid and have been accepted, or to inform that there is an issue with one or more of the documents and to direct you to the next steps.

All renewals will take effect from the expiry date of the existing pass, so no-one will lose out by renewing early.

Neil Conway, Chief Executive of merseyflow, said: "As we’re approaching the end of October, we’re reminding all Halton residents to check the renewal dates of their plans and to take action if they are due to expire. This is not only to continue benefiting from your fantastic discount on Mersey Gateway and Silver Jubilee bridge crossings, but to ensure that you don’t get issued with a PCN after crossing the bridges with an expired plan and have your merseyflow account closed entirely.”

Halton residents must renew their plan every 12 months to ensure their details are correct and they continue to qualify for the Local User Discount Scheme.
