More than one million journeys paid for with merseyflow app

Over one million trips over the Mersey Gateway and Silver Jubilee bridges have been paid for using the merseyflow quick-pay app since it was launched just two years ago.

Merseyflow’s Quick-Pay app is the easiest payment option for drivers who haven’t taken up the option of registering their vehicle with merseyflow to get discounts on every crossing.

It enables drivers with unregistered vehicles to pay the toll charge easily from their mobile phone so they can make their payment without having to call the Merseyflow Contact Centre or visit the Walk-In Centre in Runcorn.

Since it was launched in November 2019, almost 200,000 people have downloaded the merseyflow Quick-Pay app which enables them to:

  • save their vehicle and card details securely in a profile once they sign up to make paying for future crossings quicker and easier
  • receive notifications once their pre-paid credit has been spent, giving them clear notice that they need to pay again for future crossings
  • pay for as many crossings as they like in advance or after a crossing if they are not already registered with merseyflow.

Around two million vehicles a month use the Mersey Gateway and Silver Jubilee bridges, of which 20% percent over the last twelve months on average are people driving non-registered vehicles.

Neil Conway, Chief Executive of merseyflow, said: “Reaching one million app payments is a fantastic milestone for merseyflow and our customers. It’s really encouraging that an increasing number of customers are choosing to pay for their journeys using digital or automated channels, like our merseyflow Quick-Pay app. We’ve invested significantly to develop and improve digital payment options and it’s good to see that customers are finding them useful to make paying for their journeys as simple and easy as possible.”

The merseyflow Quick-Pay app is available to download from the Google Play and Apple App Stores.
